Dr Alistair Bogaars
Senior Lecturer in Project Management
Alistair is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business, Operations and Strategy at 比比资源 Business School. He joined the Business Faculty in September 2020 as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Systems Management and Strategy, before being appointed Lecturer in 2021.
Alistair completed his PhD with the 比比资源 Business School in March 2021 - his thesis examined fuel and transport poverty, with respect to Government policy in the UK. Alistair completed an MSc Environmental Conservation (2010) and BSc Hons Environmental Biology with European 比比资源 (1997) with the School of Science at the University of 比比资源.
Alistair completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education in December 2022 at the University of 比比资源 and was awarded Fellow status of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the same month.
Alistair has been a certified facilitator in the LEGO® Serious Play® (LSP) method since June 2024 and has successfully integrated this approach into teaching and learning activities within the 比比资源 Business School.
Alistair is a member of the Networks and Urban Systems Centre (NUSC) at 比比资源 Business School. Prior to this, he was affiliated with the Connected Cities Research Group (CCRG), also within 比比资源 Business School.
Alistair has a keen interest in pedagogy research and is a member of the Scholarship Excellence in Business Education (SEBE) group in the 比比资源 Business School.
Alistair has been a member of the University of 比比资源 LGBT+ Staff Community since December 2020.
Responsibilities within the university
- Alistair is the Programme Leader for the BA Hons Business Logistics and Transport Management and Business Purchasing and Supply Chain Management Programmes.
- Alistair is the Deputy Programme Leader for the new BA Hons Business Logistics and Supply Chain Management Programme.
- Alistair was the Programme Leader for the BA Hons Business with Marketing and Business with Finance Programmes between January 2022 and September 2023.
- Alistair is the Module Leader for TRAN 1063: Introduction to Logistics and Transport (Level 4) and TRAN 1028: Sustainable Transport (Level 6), roles he has held since July 2021.
- Alistair teaches across a broad spectrum of modules within the School of Business, Operations and Strategy, spanning undergraduate (Level 4) to postgraduate (Level 7) levels.
- Alistair has supervised Master’s students on the MA International Business and MA Logistics and Supply Chain Management programmes since 2021.
- Alistair serves as a mentor for the University of 比比资源 Enterprise Challenge and has successfully guided both finalists and semi-finalists since 2021.
Recognition
Alistair was appointed External Examiner by University of London Worldwide in December 2022 for the BSc Marketing and BSc Business Administration distance learning programmes delivered by Royal Holloway, University of London.
Research / Scholarly interests
- Alistair has contributed to the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (CIHT) ‘Improving health through active travel' project (May 2025), which aims to find and report evidence that will make it easier for local authorities to implement active travel schemes.
- Alistair was featured in a University of 比比资源 COP29 case study (SDG11) about TRAN 1028: Sustainable Transport (Level 6) COP29 case studies Dr Alistair Bogaars published in November 2024.
- Alistair has contributed to the CIHT Decarbonisation Tools and Approaches Task and Finish Group (May 2024).
